Even though the first "arc" of the DS9 novels had been completed with the hardcover Unity by SD Perry, the story was far from over. The Worlds of DS9 miniseries took us to six of our characters' homeworlds to explore the after-effects of the climactic events of Unity in a more focused and intimate fashion. It also set in motion even more galaxy-changing events that affected the people and worlds of more than one universe...
There is an enormous consistency of theme and motif that came out in my adaptations of the novels for Season 9. The mistakes of the past coming back to haunt you, how things might have gone differently in another time or place, and how loneliness can only have disastrous consequences – these are all ideas that come up again and again. As before, credit remains with the professional authors; these are only adaptations of their work.
